HOUGHTON - Walter Crist delivered the walk-off hit and was the winning pitcher for The Library Saturday in a 7-6 interleague Major baseball win over REL, Inc., at South Range.

Crist's two-RBI single brought in Michael Johnson and Pat Cortright for the tying and winning runs.

Crist also pitched the top of the sixth inning, allowing a run on two hits.

REL built a 5-1 lead after 4 1/2 innings after scoring single runs in the second and fourth and a three-spot in the fifth.

Library responded with two bases-loaded walks and Ivan Crist's two-RBI single to tie it in the fifth, only for REL to push a run across in the top of the sixth on an RBI double.

In Junior baseball, Titan Piping/KRC Driving School had a perfect weekend, knocking off Menco 6-0 before edging Calumet Machine 7-6 in eight innings.

In the opener, new pitcher Axel Anderson tossed five shutout innings and struck out 12. Coy Budweg finished off the clean sheet in relief, while Robbie Erkkila pitched in a team-best two hits.

In game two, Ben Eskola went 4-for-4 for the victors.

J. Peltier Construction took down U.P. Auto Mall 7-3 in Minor baseball.

JPC trailed 3-1 through three innings until Colin Cowell and Chad Nordstrom recorded key hits in a two-run fourth inning. JPC kept up the momentum, as Thomas Bump's two-out RBI single broke the deadlock in the fifth and was followed by three more runs in the sixth on hits by Jiseung Choi, Davin Hill and two errors.

Bump was the winning pitcher in relief of Choi. Choi allowed three runs on four hits with eight strikeouts and a walk in 3 2/3 innings, while Bump went 1 1/3, allowing a hit and striking out two. Nordstrom cleaned up in the sixth with a scoreless inning.

Cowell and Hill put up two hits apiece.

For U.P. Auto Mall, Taylor Gardner posted a pair of hits and threw 5 1/3 innings, striking out 11 and allowing five runs on seven hits.
