BLOOMFIELD TOWNSHIP, Mich. - Hancock's Dylan Peterson posted a seven-over par 77 in the first round of the Michigan Amateur Monday at Oakland Hills Country Club.
Peterson teed off in the first group of the day at the North Course (Oakland Hills' major professional tournaments have been over the South) and bogeyed the opener, but bounced back with a birdie on the par-4 second.
Peterson hit his roughest patch in the middle of his round, carding three consecutive bogeys, followed by a double bogey on holes eight through 11 to go to plus-six. However, he steadied himself with pars at the next two and grabbed his second birdie of the day coming in at No. 16.
His score puts him in a tie for 109th in the field of 168. Peterson needs to climb into the top 64 with his round today to climb into the round of 64 to begin match play Wednesday.
