Not all children of God

June 21, 2012
The Daily Mining Gazette

To the editor:

I heard that misguided catch phrase again: "Remember, we are all of God." I thought it's time to put this lie from the devil to rest. People use it when speaking about children of the devil. What they're trying to say is: "They're not that bad - they're just misguided children of God." That's stinking hog wash, and not what Jesus said about them. (John 8:39 - 47). And Jesus was not talking to killers, rapists or child molesters; he was talking to religious leaders.

Then who are the children of God? I'll let the Bible answer this question; any child will understand it:

Dear children, do not let anyone lead you astray. He who does what is right is righteous, just as He (Jesus) is righteous. He who does what is sinful is of the devil, because the devil has been sinning from the beginning. The reason the Son of God appeared was to destroy the devil's work.

No one who was born of God will continue to sin, because God's seed remains in him; he cannot go on sinning, because he has been born of God. (That is: born again John 3: 1-21). This is how we know who the children of God are and who the children of the devil are: Anyone who does not do what is right is not a child of God; nor is anyone who does not love his brother. (I John 3)

Yet to all who receive him, (Jesus) to those who believed in his name, he gave the right (power) to become children of God - children born not of natural descent, nor of human decision or a husband's will, but of God. (John 1:12-13) NIV, Emphasis added.

I hope it's very clear; once you reach the age of accountability, you choose consciously or unconsciously to be a child of God or a child of the devil.

Just like being a "good" person, going to church and paying a tithe will not make you a Christian; we are not all children of God.

Jesus paid the ultimate price on the cross so you can be born again and become a child of God. My hope is you will not wait 'til judgment day to find out who you really are. Will Jesus know you as his Father's child? (Matthew 7:15-23)
