Joseph “Joe” Coello

LAURIUM - Joseph "Joe" Coello, 53, a resident of Iroquois Street, passed away Wednesday evening, June 28, 2012, at the Omega House in Houghton.

He was born Aug. 24, 1958, in Laurium, a son of the late Joseph and Gloria (Grindatti) Coello.

Joe graduated from Calumet High School with the Class of 1976. After school, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served a four-year enlistment.

Joe was employed by McCabe's Distributing in Laurium from 1980 to 1994 and most recently, he worked for Northern Hardwoods as a kiln operator until he retired due to ill health in February 2012.

On July 9, 1994, he was married to Dinah Jarvela-Toupin.

Joe enjoyed working in his garage, hunting, gardening and spending time with his wife, Dinah and his pets.

Surviving are his wife; five daughters, Dawn, Jill (Mike) DeVries, Timery Toupin, Karissa (Brock) Toupin and Lindsay Toupin; grandchildren, Korbin and Aili; dog Tucker and cats, Mittens and Lulu; sisters, Joanne Peterson, Kathie (Randy) Crouch and Glory Strack all of Calumet; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, July 2, 2012, at 11 a.m. in the Erickson Crowley Funeral Home in Calumet with Deacon Art Stancher to officiate. Friends may call at the funeral home on Sunday from 4 to 7 p.m. Burial will be in the Lakeview Cemetery.
