Honor flight support appreciated

June 30, 2012
The Daily Mining Gazette

To the editor:

My sisters and I would like to thank The Daily Mining Gazette for sponsoring the table we had at Bridgefest 2012. We had the table to get donations and to get exposure for the U.P. Honor Flight for World War II veterans, to take them to Washington, D.C., to see the World War II Memorial, built in their honor.

Our father, Arnold Laitinen, went on the flight this past April. It was a wonderful time. There is another flight this coming September.

We would like to thank publisher Michael Scott and all the staff at the Gazette for helping us to get the word out about the U.P. Honor Flight. We met and talked to a lot of people. There was a good response for the Honor Flight.

If anyone would like to send a donation, the address is Upper Peninsula Honor Flight, 7610 S. Lake Bluff 0.5 Drive, Gladstone, Mich. 49837 or you can call Barb Van Rooy at 906-280-1471.
