HANCOCK CANAL, Mich. - Mrs. Frances Kivimaki, 91, passed away at her home early on Friday morning, June 29, 2012, following a short illness, with her family by her side.
She was born on April 18, 1921, in Franklin Mine Location, a daughter of the late Ferdinand and Cazarina Spehar. She was married to Veikko Kivimaki in Houghton. He preceded her in death.
Frances was a member of the Church of the Resurrection in Hancock where she served on the funeral lunch committee. She also volunteered at Little Brothers-Friends of the Elderly in Hancock.
Besides her parents and husband, she also was preceded in death by three brothers, three sisters and a grandchild. She is survived by a son, Roger (Joyce) Kivimaki of White Lake, Mich.; a daughter, JoAnne (Paul) Molin of Northville, Mich.; 11 grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, a great-great-grandchild and by nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday at 11 a.m. at the Church of the Resurrection with Rev. Fr. Brian Gerber to officiate. Interment will be in Forest Hill Cemetery in Houghton. There will be no visitation.
