The Daily Mining Gazette

ONTONAGON - The Ontonagon County Sheriff's Office responded to a possible drowning in Lake Superior near the Sunshine Motel in Ontonagon at 1:53 p.m. Tuesday.

A 54-year-old male from Billings, Mont., was seen walking the beach and later was found floating in Lake Superior about 20 yards offshore. Evidence technicians from the Michigan State Police Wakefield Post assisted at the scene. Alcohol was a factor in the possible drowning.

The incident remains under investigation.
