The Daily Mining Gazette

TOIVOLA - Robert Brooks threw a complete-game five-hit shutout for Mosquito Inn/Computer Mechanix, which drew within a half-game of second place in the Twilight League standings with an 8-0 home win over Pat's Foods.

Brooks not only struck out seven and walked just one, he aided his own cause, going 2-for-3 with a double and two RBIs. MI/CM made the most of a limited number of hits, recording just five, though Steve Lishinski, Justin Poirier and Brooks all scored twice.

MI/CM tok a 1-0 lead after one, then expanded it with a three-run third and a four-run fourth.

Luke Paul was 2-for-2 with a walk in defeat for Pat's.

Preston Hutchens took the loss, allowing five earned runs in a complete game. He struck out six and walked two.

MI/CM (3-5) hosts league-leading Stanton Tuesday, while Pat's (2-6) will try to beat a four-game losing streak at BlueSky Health.
