A truck is seen off M-26 in Ripley after being involved in a one-vehicle accident around 10:25 a.m. Tuesday. The driver was heading west on M-26 when he fell asleep, going off the roadway and hitting a telephone pole, road sign and mailbox before coming to rest on the roadside, according to the Houghton County Sheriff’s Department. Mercy EMS took the man to Portage Health, where he was treated for injuries. No information was available on his condition this morning. There were no passengers. The Hancock Police Department, Michigan State Police Calumet Post, Ripley Fire Department, Mercy EMS and Dave’s BP Super Service assisted.
