Stanton claims share of crown

STANTON - Erik Nettell went 3-for-4 with a double and a home run as Stanton defeated Pat's Foods 9-8 in Twilight League play Thursday.

With the win, Stanton claims a share of the regular season title with four league games to play.

The Wildcats had an early 2-0 lead, but Pat's erased it and then some with five runs in the top of the fourth.

Stanton (10-1) bounced back with six runs in the bottom of the fourth, but again the lead didn't hold, as Pat's tied it in the sixth.

Stanton scored the decisive run in the bottom of the sixth and held on for the victory.

Eli Luoma was the winning pitcher, allowing a run and a hit in two innings of relief. He struck out three.

For Pat's (2-8), C.J. Lepisto took the loss, allowing seven earned runs in six innings. He struck out three, but surrendered eight walks.

Carl Roscoe and Lepisto both had two hits and two RBIs for Pat's.

BlueSky Health 11,

Mosquito Inn/Computer Mechanix 6

TOIVOLA - Chase Sturos and Brian Juopperi recorded a pair of hits apiece for BlueSky Health in a Twilight League road win Thursday night.

Sturos tripled, while both of Juopperi's hits were doubles.

Johnny Raisanen earned the victory in relief, pitching five innings for BSH (6-5).

MI/CM, BSH and Stanton will part of a five-team field in the Leo Durocher Memorial Tournament starting Saturday.

The wood-bat tournament will kick off at 11 a.m. Saturday and continue with round-robin play until the championship, scheduled for Sunday at 4:30.
