CALUMET - Robert Palosaari, 71, of Calumet, died Wednesday, July 11, 2012, at Marquette General Hospital.
He was born in Laurium on June 20, 1941, son of Richard and Ann (Stimac) Palosaari, and attended the local schools.
Bob worked for C&H in Calumet, a foundry in Milwaukee and moved back to Calumet in the mid-'70s, working as a bartender at many of the local saloons.
He enjoyed playing cards, pool, going to the lake and visiting with family and friends.
He was a member of VFW Post 3900 of Laurium, having served with the U.S. Army.
Preceding him in death were his parents; two brothers, Richard and Henry; a sister, Dorothy.
Surviving are four daughters, Diane Palosaari of Ahmeek, Beth and Lars Hiltunen of Calumet, Penny and Pat Gray of Georgia and Roberta and Allen Elderidge of Texas; nine brothers, Joey (Gladys), Bill, Lawrence, Frank (Juanita), Jim Sneller, Fred (Carolyn), Donald (Sharon), Paul (Debra), David (Carla) Palosaari; three sisters, Jean, Nancy and Mary (Paul); grandchildren, Candy, John, Bobby, Bryan, Brett, Levy, Ike, Brandon, Echo, Kanyon, Steve, Crystal and Brittany; 21 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral Services for Mr. Palosaari will be held at 3 p.m., Saturday, July 14, 2012, in the Peterson Funeral Home in Calumet with Pastor Darwin Coty officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Burial will be in the Calvary Cemetery in Calumet.
