MARQUETTE - Several local golfers were crowned as champions at the Upper Peninsula Golf Association's Junior Championship held at Marquette Golf Club on Tuesday.
Wyatt Liston of Houghton defeated Hunter Eichhorn of Powers in a one-hole playoff to win the UPGA Junior Championship after both shot 76 in regulation.
Boys and girls ages 8 to 17 played in five divisions each, with the older competitors playing 18 holes and the younger ones nine.
Brett Hauswirth of Hancock took the boys' 16-17 title by two shots against Phil LaMarch of Escanaba, shooting a 77.
Austin Mikesch of Hancock was best in the 12-13 group, carding a 38 for nine holes. Local players Trevor Salata and Wyatt Touriniemi were second and third.
On the girls' side, Megan Kelly (89)?and Noelle Polakowski (100)?took the top two places by a wide margin.
Payton Dube of Hancock put up a 66 for nine holes for first place in the 10-11 girls' group.
