CHASSELL - Helen Marie Juntunen, 86, went to meet her Lord and Savior on July 17, 2012. She had been a resident of Ashlan Village in Lyman, S.C. for over three years. She was born on December 17, 1925 in Klingville, Mich. and was a graduate of Chassell High School.
She was married to Edwin M. Juntunen on September 6, 1952. He preceded her in death on September 13, 1999.
Also preceding her in death were her brother, Paul; sisters, Mildred Tikkanen and Alice Kerr; a step-daughter, Judith Somero.
She is survived by her children: Fayth (Mark) Anderson of Taylors, S.C., Duane of Cloquet, Minn., David of Chassell, Dawn (Mike) Greiner of West Palm Beach, Fla., Cheryl Palosaari of Greer, S.C. and Freda (Rick) LaRue of Lyman, S.C.; a step-daughter, Jane (Frank) Liupakka of Esko, Minn.; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; four brothers, Albert of Chassell, Edwin of Watertown, S.D., Alden (June) of Mars Hill, N.C., Roy (Shirley) of Ironwood; three sisters, Lillian Heikkinen of Livonia, Mich., Ruth (Pastor Elmer) Liimatta of Chassell and Verna (Pastor Ken) Storm of Hancock; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Helen loved attending church, bible reading and singing. Even in her last years of life, she had a deep concern for the soul salvation of everyone she knew. She loved people and entertained many in her home. She was also a wonderful seamstress, baker and gardener.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, July 21, 2012 in the Tapiola Apostolic Lutheran Church with Rev. Dr. Earl Kaurala to officiate. Visitation will be one hour prior to services on Saturday in the church. Burial will be in the Chassell Cemetery.
