To the editor:
This letter is in regards to the Copper Country Soccer Association 16- to 18-year-old division.
Over the past few weeks, there has been quite a controversy going on, which has directly negatively affected our team.
By now, many of you may have heard various opinions by parents coaches, and perhaps even the league president, but you may not have heard the opinion from another important piece of the puzzle - the kids playing the game.
Therefore, the following represents the viewpoint of two players (names listed below) on Coach Brien Ricci's soccer team.
Being on Mr. Ricci's soccer team this year, we've seen nothing but a very positive attitude on and off the field from him. We may not know the whole story of the recent controversies, but we have a very positive opinion of Coach Ricci's abilities and approach to coaching. Whenever there was a problem in the league, Coach Ricci would email our parents, as he didn't want us kids to get involved in any controversy but only have fun playing the game.

If the league president wanted to address his opinion about our coach, we feel he should have also emailed our parents instead, as we just want to play the game.
We would also like to say thank you to Coach Justin for stepping up and carrying the same values as Coach Ricci - fun and fairness. Perhaps we may not win the league championship this year but we sure did win the number 1 coach and it's a shame that he now has to watch us from the stands.
As indicated in a previous letter to the editor, our coach has brought out some important issues that should seriously be examined by the CCSA and perhaps will result in modifications being made by the league. One can only hope.
In conclusion, we would like to thank Coach Ricci for speaking out and although he cannot be on the sidelines with us, we will play our hearts out for him with the rest of the playoff games to come.
MOLLY MAUNO, Houghton
