COPPER HARBOR - Whether it was a flame-painted 1932 Ford Model D or the sights of the Lake Superior shoreline, the End of the Road Keweenaw Tour & Car Show drew 'oohs' and 'aahs' Saturday.

This was the fourth year for the show in Copper Harbor after starting out in Ahmeek.

"It was really good," said organizer Don Kauppi. "We had excellent weather and all. Everybody I talked to throughout the day thought it was the best one so far."

A 1959 Austin Healey was among the approximately 125 cars featured in this year’s End of the Road Keweenaw Tour & Car Show in Copper Harbor Saturday.

The cruise set off at noon from Pat's IGA in Calumet, before coming up to Five Mile Point and then following the shoreline to Copper Harbor.

And in Copper Harbor, 125 choice cars were displayed along Gratiot Street, including ones from as far south as Milwaukee and Detroit.

Gina Broeniman was polishing the front of her blue 1970 Ford Mustang, which she's owned with her husband for four years. It was purchased - and has been kept - in pristine condition.

"That car's never been touched," she said.

The adjacent 1969 Shelby belonging to her parents has been, though not in a way any buyer would complain about. The driver's side visor has the signature of the car's manufacturer. And on the driver's side door, there's one of the car's former owners - rock star Alice Cooper.

Broeniman said it was a good time.

"It's fun coming to the shows, and talking with all the other people about their cars," she said.

Lewis Bosco, who lives near Calumet, came "just to see the cars," he said. His sentimental favorite was a black 1972 Trans Am.

"Just brings back memories," he said.

Chad McIntyre of Dollar Bay couldn't single out one. He was born into a love of cars: his dad is a used car dealer and a muscle car collector.

"I'm more of a muscle car kind of guy, that's what I own, but I like them all," he said.
