ST. MARY'S, Ga. - Marilyn Aili Hatara, 68, of St. Mary's, Ga., passed away unexpectedly on Monday, July 23, 2012, at Brunswick Campus Hospital in Brunswick, Ga.
She was born March 3, 1944, in Negaunee, daughter of Arvid and Aili (Maki) Tarvainen.
Marilyn graduated from L'Anse High School in 1962, then graduated from St. Luke's Nursing School in Detroit as a registered nurse.
She married Pekka Hatara.
Marilyn lived all over the country but, most recently, in St. Mary's for nine years.
She enjoyed nursing and was an RN for 46 years, currently working for Hartland Hospice in Brunswick, Ga.
Surviving are her son, Peter Hatara of Belleville, Mich.; brother, Robert (Mary) Tarvainen of Covington; and granddaughters Tuija Hatara and Elizabeth Hatara.
Preceding her in death were her parents; son, Harry Hatara; sisters, Sadie Rosten, Helen Sliger; and brother, Clarence Tarvainen.
Visitation will be on Thursday, Aug. 2, 2012, from 10 a.m. to noon at Trinity Lutheran Church in Covington. Funeral services will be held at noon with Rev. Mark Reinsch officiating. Burial will be in the Covington Cemetery.
