July 25, 2012
The Daily Mining Gazette

STANTON - And the (extra base) hits just keep on coming.

After mercy ruling Mosquito Inn/Computer Mechanix (Toivola) last Thursday on the strength of three home runs, regular season Twilight champs Stanton busted out the big bats again Tuesday night, collecting three doubles and two home runs in a 9-5 win over BlueSky Health (Dollar Bay).

Josh Hibbard got the scoring started in the first inning with a two run home run, his second consecutive game with a big fly. The Wildcats then permanently put the contest out of reach in the fourth inning with a four run frame. Eli Luoma added his second home run of the season, while Josh Koskela, Erik Nettell and Brady Olson all doubled.

Mike Richards picked up the win with a complete game performance, striking out five and walking just one.

In Toivola, Pat's Foods (Hancock) put together their second straight win over MI/CM with a 14-4 mercy rule finish. Andrew Ewer picked up the win for Pat's in six innings pitched, while Dan Pertile and Andrew Ewer led the Hancock squad with three hits and a double apiece.

Carl Roscoe, Chris Nielsen and Clint Heikkila all collected two hits each, as Pat's put together 18 hits for the game.
