CALUMET - Stephen Frank Kump, 90, a Calumet resident and lastly, a resident patient at Cypress Manor in Hancock, passed away Saturday, July 28, 2012.
Stephen was born Dec. 24, 1921, in Red Jacket Shaft, a son of Franc and Ana (Illenich) Kump. He attended the local schools and graduated from Calumet High School, Class of 1940.
He worked for three years in Connecticut and then for the C&H Foundry and White Pine Mine, retiring in the 1970s.
Stephen was a veteran, having served with the U.S. Navy during WWII on the USS Lake Champlain.
On Oct. 5, 1946, he married the former Margherite Boulard and she preceded him in death on April 3, 2007.
Stephen was an avid fly-fisherman, he loved to rabbit hunt and he was a Detroit Tigers fan.
He was a member of St. Paul the Apostle Church.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Margherite; his brothers, John, Alfred, Frank, Eugene and Albert; and his sister, Anna.
Stephen is survived by his daughters, Theresa (Robert) Anderson of Laurium and Christine (David) Bolis of Nashville, Ind.; six grandchildren, Michael (Caroline) Anderson, Jennifer (Jeff) Humphrey, Eric (Sadie) Anderson, Jessica (Tony) Bolis, Andrew (Jessica) Bolis and Megan Bolis; two great-grandchildren, Fiona Humphrey and Trevor Humphrey; a sister-in-law, Janet Kump of Calumet; and several nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, August 2, 2012, in the Erickson Crowley Funeral Home in Calumet.
Friends may call for one hour prior to the service, from 10 to 11 a.m. Burial will be in the Lake View Cemetery.
