To the editor:
The Portage Health Canal Run had a record year, with more than 600 people registering and participating. It was also a record year for volunteers, with more than 100 people helping.
I would like to thank all of the volunteers for their hard work and dedication. Some were awake and assisting as early as 4 a.m. Others stood out in the heat for hours making sure the runners were safe and hydrated. Many volunteers stayed around after the last finisher safely completed the race.
All of you did an amazing job and everyone involved is thankful for your work and participation. A special thank you to the Canal Run's organizing committee: Julie Jennerjohn for organizing the volunteers so effectively and Angela Luskin, whose hard work has brought the Canal Run to new levels, adding more than 100 runners for two years in a row.
Again, thank you to everyone who made this event special. We look forward to seeing you participate in next year's Canal Run.
