SOUTH RANGE - The Range Sno-mobile Club and Houghton Motocross hosted racers from throughout the region this weekend for American Motorcycle Association-sanctioned competition.
One of the day's big winners was Eric Palosaari of Chassell. Palosaari prevailed in both the 250A and Open A classes during Saturday's racing. He was edged out for the top spot in 250A after both he and Jacob Vaness of Pulaski, Wis., tied with one first and one second. Since Vaness's win came in the second of the two motos (heats), he was the overall champ.
Palosaari did win the Open A competition for the second straight day.

Kyle Ahola of L'Anse made the most of the weekend, winning the Sportsman B/C 14-24 class both days. Dustin Raffaelli of South Range was runner-up in the class both days. Ahola also had a second-place finish in 250B Saturday and a third (behind Raffaelli in second Sunday).
Jonah Dowd of L'Anse finished atop the Mini 85 9-11 class Saturday and the Mini 75 7-11 class Sunday.
