Finlandia Fish Fry a success

August 15, 2012
The Daily Mining Gazette

To the editor:

The Finlandia University Fish Fry on July 27 was a huge success.

More than 500 people were served and we couldn't have done it without all of the dedicated volunteers and generous sponsors who made the event possible.

There are more volunteers to name than can be listed in this letter, but a sincere and grateful thank you goes out to each and every one of you. Don Peryam and Charleen Ahola did a fantastic job co-chairing the event. A special thank you to community-minded sponsors: Upper Peninsula Power Co., Dave's BP Service, Memorial Chapel Funeral Homes, Pat's Foods in Hancock, Festival Foods in Houghton, and Vollwerth and Baroni Companies. We are also grateful to the businesses that allowed us to advertise in their establishments, the local churches that helped us spread the word, and to 93.5 WKMJ and 97.7 WOLV for broadcasting the event.

An appreciative thank you also goes to all of those who attended the fish fry. It was great community event. We hope you will join us again for the next one.
