GRANT TOWNSHIP - Officials say a Marquette woman is lucky to be alive after a single-vehicle car accident near Copper Harbor Saturday.
April Marie Barkel, 34, was northbound on U.S. 41 near Mandan at about 11:48 a.m. when she apparently lost control of her 1998 Subaru, crossed into the southbound lane, exited the roadway and struck several trees.
Barkel was attended to by the Copper Harbor Fire and Rescue and First Responders of Grant Township, and taken to Aspirus Keweenaw in Laurium by Mercy EMS.
