DODGEVILLE - Joseph "Joe" M. Babich, 72, a life-long resident of Dodgeville, died on Thursday morning, August 23, 2012, at the Omega House in Houghton.
Joe was born on June 28, 1940, in Dodgeville, a son of the late Marco and Elizabeth (Tarak) Babich. He attended the Houghton Schools.
Mr. Babich was a veteran of the Vietnam Era, serving in the U.S. Army.
Joe worked for 30 years at the Forest Hill Cemetery in Houghton retiring in 2006.
He was a past member of St. Mary's Star of the Sea Catholic Church in Atlantic Mine. Preceding him in death were his parents, one brother, Frank Babich and one sister, Rose Spolarich.
Surviving are two brothers, John (Marie) Babich of Spring Lake, Mich., Rudolph (Pat Wiater) Babich of South Lyon, Mich.; one sister, Irene (Alexander) Geborkoff of Baltic; one sister-in-law, Kathy Babich of Spring Lake, Mich.; nephews, Alex (Sarah) Geborkoff of Chassell, Marc (Mialey) Geborkoff of Baltic, James Babich of Spring Lake, Mark (Carol) Babich of Grand Rapids; nieces, Carla (Steve) Bartow of Florida, Joanne (Steve) Jones of Grand Haven; and several great-nieces and nephews.
There will be no visitation.
Private services will be held with Fr. John Martignon to officiate.
Burial will be in the Forest Hill Cemetery where Military Graveside Rites will be conducted under the auspices of the Copper Country Veterans Association.
The family suggests memorials be made to the Omega House, 2211 Maureen Lane, Houghton, MI, 49931.
