BARAGA - Joyce E. Lyberg, 84, of Baraga, passed away Wednesday evening, August 22, 2012, at Baraga County Memorial Hospital in L'Anse. She was born in Iron Mountain, Mich., on July 24, 1928, the daughter of the late Victor and Isabelle (Rowe) Krohmer.
Joyce graduated from Kingsford High School and then attended Northern Michigan University. She had worked as a dental hygienist for Dr. Miller in L'Anse for many years then was employed at Baraga County Memorial Hospital until her retirement. Joyce was a member of United Methodist Church in L'Anse. She enjoyed collecting antiques and traveling. Joyce was a talented artist, including pen and ink drawings.
Mrs. Lyberg is survived by her children, Victor (Betty) Lyberg of Gladstone, Mich., Roy Lyberg of Baraga, Janice (Michael) Streeter of Bergland, and Karen (Bill) Kautto of L'Anse; eight grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; a great-grandchild that will be arriving soon; and a brother, Robert Krohmer of Port Huron, Mich. Several nieces and nephews also survive. She was preceded in death by her parents and a great-granddaughter.
A memorial funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, August 27, 2012, from United Methodist Church in L'Anse with Pastor Steve Rhoades officiating.
Interment will take place in the Park Cemetery in Iron Mountain. The family will greet friends at the church on Monday from 10 a.m. until the time of the service. Mrs. Lyberg's obituary may also be viewed and condolences sent to the family at rfsc.net.
The family has entrusted the Reid Funeral Service and Chapel in L'Anse with the arrangements.
