Michigan Technological University orientation team leaders put the finishing touches on a 500-foot banana split on campus Tuesday night. The split included 280 pounds of bananas, 1,600 ice cream squares, five gallons of crushed pineapple, 10 gallons of strawberries, two gallons of cherries, three gallons of chocolate sauce and 18 quarts of whipped topping.
