FORT MYERS, Fla. - David Lee Tinder, 71, of Fort Myers, Fla., passed away Aug. 9, 2012.
He was born Nov. 23, 1940, in Chicago, Ill., to the late Melvin and Velna (Gossett) Tinder.
Dave moved to Lee County, Fla., in the late '70s from Iowa. He served our country in both the Navy and the Marines.
He loved playing bridge and sailing.
He was the former VP for Hitachi Metals Corp. He later was the owner of several boat excursion tour companies and operated the Lighthouse Boat Tours in Copper Harbor from 1990-99.
Left to cherish his memory are his daughters, Desiree Williams and husband, Jeff of Mohawk, Ashley Schatz and husband, Adam of Waterloo, Ontario, Canada; son, David Lee Tinder II of San Diego, Calif.; and two grandchildren, Peyton and Conner Williams.
A celebration of Dave's life will be held at the Lore of the Lakes Maritime Museum in Copper Harbor on Sunday, Sept. 2, 2012, at 7 p.m. Please plan to join us for remembering and sharing your favorite stories about Captain Dave.
