To the editor:
I am writing to give my sincerest thank you to the Copper Harbor Fire Department as well as to offer a correction.
In an Aug. 20 Daily Mining Gazette article, I was quoted as being a member of the CHFD, but this is not the case. During the annual Art in the Park event, the volunteer firemen cook and sell hot dogs and snacks. This year, they were called out to a car accident and I, as well as some other locals, stepped in to cook in their place.
While I am not a CHFD member, I am forever grateful for their training and quick response to emergencies in Copper Harbor and the surrounding area. In addition to their countless hours of volunteer time, they also support other local projects such as the Copper Harbor Playground Project and generously donated all proceeds from the Art in the Park cookout to this cause.
Thanks again, Copper Harbor Fire Department for your continued support of our town.
