Finlandia soccer takes mixed results from first weekend

HANCOCK - Finlandia University opened up its 2012 women's soccer season with a split of games at the Mount Mary Invitational over the weekend in Milwaukee.

The Lions dropped their season opener by a 5-0 score to Crown College Friday night.

Megan Wright scored four times for the winners.

Alexis Coll made 12 saves in the Finlandia net.

On Saturday, Finlandia took down Robert Morris (Ill.) - Lake County 2-0. No other details were available.

Finlandia is scheduled to return to the field Saturday with a trip to Martin Luther College.

The Lions men's golf team posted a 13th-place finish in a field of 17 at the Culver's Edgewood College Fall Classic in Janesville, Wis.

Mark Gauthier shot 77-78 to finish at 13-over 155 for the team's best individual finish, tied for 24th of 89.

Dylan Peterson was tied for 31st individually with a 76-81.

Jordan Rasner (79-88) and Robert Niemi (88-95) finished off the Lions' team total of 662.

Viterbo won the event with a 596.
