L'ANSE - L'Anse grabbed victory in its WestPAC opener Tuesday, defeating Hancock 3-1 (25-21, 16-25, 25-23, 25-22).
Mercie Funke's seven kills led the way offensively, while Val Rajala contributed a solid all-around game with five kills, four digs, three aces and a block kill.
Libero Amanda Dufek posted a team-best nine digs, while Becca Hulkonen added seven. Heather McCarthy dished out 11 assists.

"It was a great win for these girls and I'm extremely proud of how they played tonight," L'Anse coach Jen Wilson said.
The Hornets will go for a third straight win next Tuesday at Chassell.
Ewen-Trout Creek 3, Ontonagon 0
EWEN - The first chapter in the fight for Ontonagon County went decisively to Ewen-Trout Creek Tuesday, as the Panthers swept 3-0 (25-12, 25-17, 26-24).
Sam Robl served up eight aces, while Brittany Suomomaki had a five-kill performance. Zoey McGeshick and Molly Niemi chipped in three kills apiece.
For Ontonagon, Jennifer Stewart and Bobbi Ross had three kills apiece and Brooke Turin served four aces.
Ontonagon won the JV match in two sets.
