ASHWAUBENON, Wis. - Calumet ended up fourth of 10 teams Saturday at the Ashwaubenon (Wis.) Invite.
The Copper Kings took second in their pool, defeating Appleton North 2-0 (25-14, 25-20) and Freedom 2-0 (25-20, 25-15), but falling to the hosts 2-0 (25-22, 25-20) and pool winner Antigo 2-1 (25-20, 19-25, 17-15).
In bracket play, Seymour edged the Copper Kings 2-1 (22-25, 25-23, 15-9).
"I am very proud of how the team represented the Copper Country. There were some tough, big teams and we remained competitive the entire day," Calumet coach Lisa Twardzik said.
Leading Calumet offensively on the day were Ellen Twardzik and Kristy Lasanen, who posted 27 kills apiece.
Kayleen Anderson added 20 in her own right, plus recorded 76 assists.
Libero Terra Erkkila was the team dig leader with 60, while Molly Loukus had 13 aces and Anderson 10 for the Copper Kings, who host Hancock Tuesday.
