HANCOCK - Joseph W. Somero, 65, a resident of Atlantic House in Hancock, and former Atlantic Mine resident, died Wednesday, Sept. 5, 2012, at home.
He was born July 30, 1947, in Hancock, a special child of God, to the late Walfred Joseph and Edna Maria (Holappa) Somero.
Joseph loved fishing with his dad and brother, Jim, and continued to enjoy it in later life.
Surviving are a sister, Maria Moore (Bob Rule) of Hancock; a brother-in-law, Vern (Beth) Warren of New Blaine, Ark.; two aunts, Margaret Flower of Walled Lake, Mich., and Ruth Malarkey of N. Carolina; nine nieces; one nephew; several cousins; and several grand-nieces and grand-nephews.
Besides his parents, Joseph was also preceded in death by a brother, James; sister, Dorothy Warren; brother-in-law, Billy Moore.
The family would like to express a special thank you to the caregivers at Tower House, Portage House and Atlantic House for the wonderful care given to Joseph over the years.
Funeral services were at 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 8, 2012, in the Mountain View Mortuary in South Range with Pastor Elmer Liimatta officiating. Visitation was one hour prior to services and burial was in the Atlantic Mine Cemetery.
