The organization committee of the Great Deer Chase Mountain Bike Race held at the Swedetown Recreation Area in Calumet Aug. 18 would like to thank the sponsors and many volunteers who helped make the race possible.
We would like to let our precious volunteers know how much we appreciated their efforts in making the Great Deer Chase a fun race. We would also like to thank those Calumet businesses who donated door prizes. Please support those who support mountain biking in the area.
The sponsors were: Aspirus Keweenaw Hospital, Cross Country Sports, Copper Island Printing, Keweenaw Convention and Visitors Bureau, Red Jacket Brewery, Edward Jones - Calumet, UPMTB.com, Columbia Linen Service, Copper Country Ford, Northland Veterinary Clinic, 700 Calumet Economy Bed & Breakfast, J.E. Hendrickson Excavating, Moyle Inc., Village of Calumet, Calumet Township and North Houghton County Sewer Authority.
Prizes were donated by Cross Country Sports, Calumet Mercantile, Dawn's Designs, Hahn's Hammered Copper, 700 Calumet Economy Bed & Breakfast, Earth Wise and Northwoods Memories.
A special thank you goes out to Marc Norton of Copper Island Printing for directing the race. Thanks also go to Cross Country Sports for registration space and more, Houghton County Road Commission for the use of the barriers and barrels, and the Escanaba and Gladstone racers who helped us tear it all down at the end of the day.
