Second place for Lakes at FP Invite

CRYSTAL FALLS - The host Trojans downed Lake Linden-Hubbell 2-1 (21-17, 18-21, 15-13) to repeat as champions of the Forest Park Invitational high school volleyball tournament Saturday at Eddie Chambers Gymnasium.

In the semifinals, Forest Park clipped Stephenson 2-0 (21-13, 21-15) and Lake Linden topped Iron Mountain 2-1 (16-21, 21-13, 15-9).

Forest Park and Lake Linden both posted 7-1 marks in pool 2. However, Coach Kim Bjork's Trojans tallied 166 points to 150 for the Lakes in gaining the top seed.

In a pool play match to open the tournament, Forest Park bowed to Lake Linden 21-19 in the first set and took the second 21-12.

North Dickinson and L'Anse, both 3-5, and Munising, 0-8, also played in pool 2.

The Mountaineers, 7-1, paced pool 1, followed by Stephenson, 6-2; Florence, 5-3; West Iron County, 2-6, and Watersmeet, 0-8.

For the day, Mandy Perreault racked up 57 kills, while Brittni Kisul added 16 and Ciara Larson 13.

Larson was the Lakes' dig leader with 33. Kisul added 24, Erin Gast 21 and Brooke Corrigan and Jaimie Middleton 20 apiece.

Kisul posted 20 aces and Sarah Audette 10, while Audette had a team-best 49 assists.
