PUNTA GORDA, Fla. -Anna Ruth Murphy, 84, passed away Friday, Sept. 14, 2012, in Punta Gorda, Fla., after a lengthy illness.
She was born Sept. 9, 1928, in Doniphan, Mo., and moved to Michigan in 1950 with her husband, William Murphy.
Anna retired from Houghton National Bank in 1990. She was an active member of the United Methodist Church and American Legion Auxiliary Post 90.
She is survived by her daughter, Sharon (Dale) Mars; her grandchildren, Kasey (Justin) Hill and Lindsay (Barry) Hughes; great-grandchildren, Austin, Evan, Logan and Annaliese. Also left behind to cherish her memory are many nieces and nephews.
Anna Ruth lived for her family. She enjoyed traveling, cooking, telling stories and reading to her great-grandchildren.
A committal service will be held Sept. 29, beginning at 11 a.m. in the Doniphan Cemetery in Doniphan, Mo.
The family request in lieu of flowers for donations to be made to Hope Hospice, 9470 HealthPark Cir., Fort Myers, Florida 33908 in memory of Anna.
