Eleanor Wuopio

CALUMET - Eleanor Wuopio, 80, passed away on Monday, Sept. 17, 2012, at the Omega House following a lengthy illness.

Mrs. Wuopio was born in Hurontown, a daughter of John and Fannie Onkalo.

Following her graduation from Houghton High School in 1950, she moved to Clawson, Mich., and worked as a waitress at the Whistle Stop Restaurant in Birmingham, Mich., for 30 years.

She married Roy Wuopio in 1971, he passed away in July 1987, and she moved to Calumet two months later.

Eleanor is survived by her grandson, Eric J. Onkalo of Rochester Hills and three great-grandchildren, Monica, Sarah and Samantha Onkalo.

She was preceded in death by her son, David Onkalo in 2008.

Graveside services will be held on Friday, Sept. 21, 2012, in the Lakeview Cemetery, section 71, with Pastor Kenneth Toth to officiate.

Ryan Funeral Home in Calumet is serving the family.
