HANCOCK - Marilyn S. Bourbonais, 86, died Wednesday evening, Sept. 19, 2012, at the Houghton County Medical Care Facility in Hancock.
She was born in Houghton on January 20, 1926, to the late Alvin and Dorothy (Kratt) Bourbonais.
Following graduation from Houghton High School, she attended St. Joseph School of Nursing in Hancock and also entered into religious life. She was employed for a number of years at St. Mary's Hospital in Milwaukee. Later, she accepted a position as a teaching nurse at the Milwaukee Area Technical College in Milwaukee until she retired. At that time, she returned to live in Hancock and, most recently, at the Bluffs in Houghton.
Marilyn was a member of the Church of the Resurrection in Hancock. She liked pets, especially cats and dogs, and she enjoyed reading.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Marjorie Jaehnig and Marion Junttonen; and a brother, Marshall Bourbonais.
She is survived by many nieces and nephews including a special niece, Mary (Mike) Simila of Hancock; a sister-in-law, Kitty, of Ontonagon; and a brother-in-law, Ben, of Newport, Mich.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 25 in the Church of the Resurrection with Rev. Fr. Brian Gerber to officiate. Burial will be in Forest Hill Cemetery in Houghton. Friends may call at the church for an hour before the Mass.
The O'Neill-Dennis Funeral Home in Hancock is assisting with arrangements.
