ALSTON - James L. Payment, 75, of Nisula, peacefully passed away Sept. 23, 2012, with his beloved wife, Susan, and family by his side.
Jim was born December 7, 1936 in Sault Ste. Marie.
He served in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Korean War and spent his younger years as a painter on the Mackinac Bridge.
He was a lifetime member of the VFW, American Legion, the DAV and AmVets.
Jim had a passion for farming, cooking, the outdoors and his family. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle and best friend to many. Jim will be forever remembered in the hearts of many.
Left to mourn are his wife; two brothers; seven children; three stepsons; 12 grandchildren; a great-granddaughter; many extended family members and the best of friends.
Jim will be joining his predeceased family members at the heavenly gates.
