Margaret A. Wakeham

HANCOCK - Margaret A. Wakeham, 84, of Hancock, died on Saturday, Sept. 29, 2012, at Cypress Manor.

She was born in Franklin Mine Location on March 17, 1928, to the late Richard and Marie (Sadino) Baldassari. She attended the Quincy School, later graduating from Hancock High School.

Marge was first employed at Ben Miller's Clothing Store in Hancock. After raising her family, she went to work at J.C. Penney Stores in Houghton and the Copper Country Mall until her retirement.

She was married to Hubert Wakeham on July 29, 1950. He preceded her in death on August 21, 2003.

Marge was a member of the Church of the Resurrection in Hancock where she served on the funeral committee and the Ladies Adult Altar Servers. She was also a member of the Daughters of Italy.

Marge loved being with her family and listening to music. She enjoyed her daily long walks around the towns, reading, puzzle solving and was a fan of the Detroit Tigers, Red Wings and Green Bay Packers.

Besides her husband and parents, she was also predeceased by an infant son, Robert; a brother, Joseph; a sister, Hazel Jurkovich.

She is survived by three sons, James of Hancock, Ron of Houghton and Keith (Patti Downey) of Dollar Bay; nine grandchildren, David, Cherie, Robert, Thomas, Samantha, Travis, Kayla, Lily and Jessica; seven great-grandchildren; by many nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Wednesday in the Church of the Resurrection with Rev. Fr. Brian Gerber to officiate. Burial will be in Forest Hill Cemetery in Houghton.

Friends may call on Tuesday from 6 until 8 in the O'Neill-Dennis Funeral Home in Hancock and on Wednesday from 10 until time of services at the church.

The O'Neill-Dennis Funeral Home in Hancock is assisting with arrangements.
