To the editor:
I read Tom Rozich's Sept. 28 column on Great Lakes chinook and coho with interest. I took coho eggs in the fall of 1966-67 at Fall Cr. (OFC) hatchery that were sent to your area. I presume your runs are still doing well and self sustaining? Believe it or not, the salmon hatcheries here now are "politically incorrect" and are being defunded in favor of a "wild fish" policy. If raising coho and chinook in hatcheries is so bad, why and how do you still have salmon in the Great Lakes - that are of 100-percent hatchery origin - after 46 years?
