Cecilia (Perreault) Sidbeck

HUBBELL - Cecilia (Perreault) Sidbeck passed away peacefully Oct. 8, 2012, at Harbor Hospice Nursing Center in Lumberton, Tex.

Cecilia was born Dec. 14, 1922, to John B. Perreault and Clementine (Gagnon) Perreault in Lake Linden. She was raised in Hubbell and graduated from Lake Linden-Hubbell High School with the Class of 1940.

She stayed in Hubbell after graduation working as a bookkeeper and, after World War II, would meet the love of her life on a blind date, Paul Raymond Sidbeck of Munising. They married in October 1947 and moved to Marquette to begin their life together. In 1959, they moved to Torrance, Calif., where they raised their six children and would eventually retire. In 2009, she moved to Lumberton to be with her son, Richard.

In her life, Cecilia enjoyed many hobbies, taking classes in painting, sewing, knitting and even tried a few computer classes. She was an active volunteer in her children's schools, once winning a PTA award for her efforts. She also enjoyed traveling all over the U.S. with her husband, Paul, until his death in 1994.

She was a devoted member of St. James Catholic Church in Torrance.

Cecilia was predeceased by her husband of 47 years, Paul; and her brother, Leonard J. Perreault of Hubbell.

Cecilia is survived by her sons, Richard (Patricia) Sidbeck of Lumberton, Tex., and Paul Sidbeck of Henderson, Nev.; daughters, Patricia Marcum of Henderson, Nev., Peggy (Cameron) Sidbeck of Nanaimo, B.C., Mary (Nick) LaForte of Rancho Santa Fe, Calif., and Elaine (David) of Tucker, Ga.; grandchildren, Tracy Colton, Brandy (Mark) Mayer, and Paige (Eric) Russell; four great-grandchildren; and a nephew, Dave (Pam) Perreault.

Cecilia treasured her family and life-long friends. She was able to enjoy the end of her life surrounded by family in Lumberton. She will be missed by those who knew and loved her.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 16 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Lake Linden with Father Francis Dobrzenski to officiate. Visitation will be from 6 until 8 p.m. on Monday at the Pearce Funeral Home in Lake Linden with a prayer service at 6. Burial will be in the Mt. Calvary Cemetery in Lake Linden.
