Hard-working prosecutor

October 17, 2012
The Daily Mining Gazette

To the editor:

Few people have worked harder for the citizens of Houghton County than prosecuting attorney Mike Makinen. He prosecuted 184 felonies in 2011. That's one every other day. His assistant prosecuting attorney prosecuted at least that many cases, all with a severe shortage of support staff. Many of the felonies were complex and difficult cases. Mike Makinen works with local law enforcement on a daily basis and has the high praise and respect from the law enforcement community. Mike Makinen has worked tirelessly for the citizens of Houghton and will continue to do so when he is re-elected.

Regardless of your political preference for any elected office, it is critically important the citizens of Houghton County and the entire nation exercise our right to vote. Remember, the U.S. Marines lost 10,000 men prior to raising our United States flag at Iwo Jima. And thousands of men and women since then have paid the ultimate sacrifice so you can freely vote your choice.

Make sure to vote and keep Mike Makinen as your prosecuting attorney.
