Duane Jon “Butch” Wasberg

TAMARACK CITY - Duane Jon Wasberg, 61, of Tamarack City, passed away Oct. 16, 2012, at the Omega House in Houghton.

He was born in Laurium on Dec. 21, 1950, a son of Leonard and Genevive (Turcotte) Wasberg. He graduated from Dollar Bay High School in 1969.

Duane served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War and later attended Suomi College in Hancock.

He worked for the Ridgewood Sewer Authority and New Jersey Transit. Locally, he operated a greenhouse in Tamarack City.

Duane loved plants and flowers and enjoyed music and "old" movies.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Donald MacIntosh; and twin sons, Joshua Duane and Seth McCabe.

Surviving are four children, Kyle (Melissa), Matthew, Bryan and Alicia, all of New Jersey; two grandchildren, Zachary and Aidan; former wife, Leslie Wasberg-Straub of New Jersey; sisters, Arlene (Ted) Gast and Lynn (Don) Darcy; along with special friends, nieces and nephews.

A private family funeral will be held in the Pearce Funeral Home in Lake Linden with Rev. Robert White to officiate.
