L'ANSE - The Western Upper Peninsula Planning & Development Region will be hosting a public forum to introduce a strategic plan for the future of Baraga County.
The forum, which will take place from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the L'Anse Junior/Senior High School Cafetorium, will include a presentation on the planning goals, process and timeline. Pizza and pop will be provided.
"We're really trying to get a high degree of public participation to make this something really useful, and what we're trying to do in the end is come up with a few implementable economic development strategies and projects that can actually make a difference," WUPPDR Planner Jerald Wuorenmaa said at an Oct. 16 Baraga County website launch party, when the plan was first announced.
The plan and forum are being conducted separately but in coordination with other organizations, including the Baraga County Chamber of Commerce. Baraga County municipalities, the Keweenaw Bay Indian Community and a variety of community organizations are involved in the process.
