HOUGHTON - There's no question the media industry and the business of selling newspapers is a changing medium. Instead of buying a paper from a young boy hawking them on a street corner, people can insert change into a metal box to retrieve their own copy. Instead of sitting down and holding open a newspaper with both hands, people can now flip through the pages using nothing more than their thumb.
People who like to get their news on the go can now do so with The Mining Gazette iPhone application.
"We are pleased to present a feature Gazette readers have been requesting - a more readable format to get local news and sports coverage from their smartphones. The media industry is changing and the Gazette is changing with it," said Jane Nordberg, managing editor of The Daily Mining Gazette. "We hope readers will give us their input on the new app so we can make continual improvements."
The app is available for free download on iPhones and iPads.
