To the editor:
I don't usually pay much attention to political advertising, but with the serious issues that surround our country right now, I have been paying much better attention. I am particularly interested in the U.S. Senate race. As a state, we need to focus on real economic growth. One of the many things that is stalling that growth is the cost of energy. As a matter of fact, when Debbie Stabenow took office, gas only cost $2.24 a gallon. Now it is almost $4 a gallon. That is hurting all of us and it raises the price of everything from food to school supplies. Now Debbie is supporting Proposition 3, which will drastically raise energy prices.
Pete Hoekstra, on the other hand, supports an all of the above energy plan. His solutions would allow us to safely drill in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge, drill offshore and build the Keystone Pipeline.
He also wants to help the growth of renewable energy, just not at the cost of jobs and high prices. We need a senator like Pete Hoekstra. Please join me in voting for Pete on Nov 6.
