Lakes’ Perreault paces MLC volleyball All-Stars

LAKE LINDEN - Lake Linden-Hubbell senior Mandy Perreault was named Mountain Lakes Conference Most Valuable Player in coaches' voting released Monday.

Perreault was one of five Lakes to be named to an MLC all-star team. Two more teammates, senior Brittni Kisul and junior Ciara Larson, were first-team selections.

LL-H made an unbeaten run through league play.

Second-place Baraga (6-2) had a pair of first-team selections, seniors Rebecca Larson and Brittany Nieskes.

LL-H and Baraga play tonight at 5 in a Class D district semifinal at Ontonagon.

Ewen-Trout Creek had a pair of first-team picks in seniors Zoey McGeshick and Brittany Suomumaki. The Panthers open district play in Crystal Falls Wednesday against Watersmeet.

Chassell senior Kaitlyn Hietala rounds out the first unit.

Chassell went 4-4 in league play, while E-TC was 2-6 and Ontonagon 0-8.

The All-MLC second team includes LL-H's Jaimie Middleton (senior) and Erin Gast (junior), Chassell's Jamie Dompier (senior) and Kirsten Daavettila (junior), Baraga's Kelly Bedner (junior) and E-TC's Samantha Robl (senior).

E-TC's Jay Jurkovich was named coach of the year.

Bobbi Ross and Chelsea Truscott of Ontonagon, MacKenzie Keefer of Baraga, Sarah Audette of LL-H and Rebekkah Driesenga of E-TC received honorable mention.
