LAKE LINDEN - Clayton Robert Haralson, 94, of Lake Linden, passed away Oct. 30, 2012.
He was born Sept. 29, 1918 in Black River Falls, Wis., a son of Merritt and Theodora (Thompson) Haralson. He graduated from Lake Linden-Hubbell High School in 1937.
He worked as a lumber inspector for most of his life, retiring in 1980.
Clayton served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
He was married to Winifred Mary Grove on February 3, 1941.
Mr. Haralson was a member of the Lake Linden-Hubbell Methodist Church and he had been a member of Post 90, American Legion in Lake Linden. He was an avid bowler and liked to do wood-working projects. He followed Lake Linden-Hubbell sports when his children and grandchildren were on the teams. He liked card games, deer hunting and fishing, spending time at Big Traverse Bay and the hunting camp. He loved to tell stories from his youth in detail.
Clayton was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Harold "Whitey" and Duane; sisters, Doris and Joyce; a grandson, David Haralson.
He is survived by his wife of 71 years, Winifred of Houghton County Medical Care Facility; four children, Clayton Kenneth (Theresa) of Lake Linden, Sharon Winifred (Paul) Monette of Laurium, Duane (Lynne) of Calumet and Bob (Sue) of Lake Linden; grandchildren, Michael Haralson, Tammy Chopp, Brian Haralson, Scott Monette, Sandee Chopp, Tom Monette, Shawn Monette, Michelle Gagnon and Nicky Outinen; 23 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; a sister, Virginia Halverson of Ironwood; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
A private family service is planned with Rev. Robert to officiate. Burial will be in Maple Hill Cemetery in Lake Linden.
The Pearce Funeral Home in Lake Linden is in charge of arrangements.
