Sickened after research

November 2, 2012
The Daily Mining Gazette

To the editor:

There have been times throughout history when a populace has longed to reverse events that ultimately brought them to a place of bitter suffering, grief and remorse. Information provides (news outlets, editors, etc.) and others in positions of influence over them were either similarly duped by the country's leaders or, in some cases, lacked courage to tell facts which bumped against the prevailing cultural currents of the times in which they lived. We live in such a time now, in this country. If you are able to read this, be thankful.

This letter is call to your attention Barack Obama's cold-hearted opposition to the Born Alive Infant Protection Act (SB1082) when he was a Senator in the Illinois Senate. In 2002 he went so far as to actually take to the floor to speak against the bill - the only Senator to do so. On March 13, 2003 due to his efforts as committee chair, he engineered its defeat. When asked about it later he lied about it. Suffice it to say that, with Obama's complicity, a plainly-worded bill that would have done nothing more than keep alive a baby that had survived a late-term abortionist's attempt to kill it in the womb was defeated. Such babies were left to die and the bill would have put an end to that unbelievable, outrageous practice.

I was sickened and frightened after researching it. My thoughts then turned to Obama. What political concern, what rigid ideology, what personal ambition would drive him to do and say what he did? Could some childhood trauma (as has been the case with other duplicitous leaders) have produced a psyche incapable of evaluating obvious wrong, regardless of rationalization. Can anyone be so consumed by dogma that he becomes blind to basic human decency?

Do your own research. Other nations have been swept away with powerful, skillfully-delivered speeches and animated oratory. Regardless of your political bent, or your support for various issues (including abortion) you need to consider the notion that Obama is not show he pretends to be. Can you in good conscience, vote for such a man?
