LAURIUM - William E. Aho, 78, a former resident of Laurium, died on Wednesday, October 31, 2012, at the D.J. Jacobetti Home for Veterans in Marquette.
He was born in Laurium, Mich., on December 7, 1933, a son of the late Leonard and Helen (Rajala) Aho and was a graduate of the Calumet High School.
Bill worked for numerous businesses in the Calumet and Laurium area.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving during the Korean War.
Surviving are two sisters, Florence (Pastor Herb) Jarvi of Redridge and Eileen (Pastor Robert) Anderson of Greer, S.C.; two sisters-in-law, Joyce Oja of East Lansing and Ruth Aho of Chassell; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Besides his parents, Bill was also preceded in death by four brothers, John, Vernon, George and Melvin; and two sisters, Lorraine and Elsie.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, November 6, 2012, at the Jukuri-Antila Funeral Home in Hancock, with Pastor Robert Anderson to officiate. Visitation will be 1 hour prior to services on Tuesday at the funeral home.
Burial will be in the Veteran's Section in the Lake View Cemetery in Calumet with military rites to be conducted by the Copper Country Veteran's Association. Memorials may be made to the D.J. Jacobetti Home for Veterans, 425 Fisher St., Marquette, MI 49855, in the name of William E. Aho. Arrangements are being handled by Antila Funeral Service, Inc.
