Antoinette “Toni” Coppo

CALUMET - Antoinette "Toni" Coppo, age 84, passed away Sunday, Nov. 4, 2012, at Marquette General Hospital.

She was born in Greeney, Minn., Aug. 30, 1928, a daughter of Anton and Catherine Turk. Toni was the second youngest of nine children. The family moved to Calumet when she was 2 years old.

Toni graduated from Calumet High School in 1946 and St. Joseph School of Nursing with an R.N. degree in 1949. She was employed by Calumet Public Hospital from 1950 to 1968.

She married Arthur Coppo March 3, 1951. In 1968, they purchased Theresa's Pasty Shop in Laurium. In 1970, they built a new shop in Laurium, Toni's Country Kitchen. They ran the business until 1982 when she and Art retired. They enjoyed retirement, travel, golf and time with friends and family.

Toni is survived by her husband, Art; daughter Patricia of St. Paul, Minn.; a brother, William of the Detroit area; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Thursday, Nov. 8, at 11 a.m. at St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church with Fr. Abraham Mupparathara to officiate. Visitation will be held at the Ryan Funeral Home in Calumet on Wednesday, Nov. 7 from 5 until 8 p.m. with parish prayers at 7:30. The Lady Elks will toast at 7 p.m.
